I'm a fixed wing man meself, know naff all about helicopters, well not much anyway, tried to fly an old Enstrom once, ****ed it up and swore I'd never go back!

Grandson's got a Doublehorse RC Heli toy that takes off, rotates wildly and is a Bl**dy disaster. There is a trimmer attached to the receiver which doesn't seem to do anything, similarly the right hand "stick" seems lifeless.

One of the problems is that the thing has no directional preference. I thought I'd put a small amount of ballast in the nose to give it some nose down trim and hence some forward thrust component ....... waddja think?

Any help appreciated - thanks

Jim

With our Doublehorse this maker produces heli's in either 2 or 3 channel helis. 2 Channels have No control, while 3 channels have only forward & backward control.

Very Clever Idea with the counter weight in a 2 Channel heli. I can see how putting a counter weight in a 2 channel would work. Once you can control the Clockwise & Counter Clockwise Trim on heli (now with forward counter weight) your heli will Always Drift Forward & you have the ability to TURN.

Nice with your own Mod now you have a 2.5 Channel heli. lol, you can't really do this on a 3 channel, unless you always like drifting Left or Right. hehe.

Hey - Thanks for that reply - we'll try a little longer. We've decided (Grandson & me) to buy a Hanger 9 Alpha Trainer this weekend and join a local club to learn to fly it. Seems like a good deal at the price.

Can't help feeling it'll be a little strange standing outside of the machine and flying it after all these years driving from the inside. Oh Well! Try anything once ......................
